We’re looking for a highly experienced and strategically minded Director of SEO to lead our organic growth initiatives and drive exceptional results for a diverse portfolio of clients. In this role, you’ll own the strategy, execution, and innovation behind high-impact SEO campaigns. From technical optimization and content strategy to data-driven performance analysis, ensuring every client achieves measurable, sustainable growth.
You’ll retain and grow client accounts by delivering search-everywhere strategies that increase qualified leads and customer revenue - while keeping client CSAT ≥ 8/10 and monthly churn ≤ 2%. We’re scaling Single Grain, Karrot.ai, ClickFlow, and future ventures into a tech-enabled growth engine, and we need proactive, decisive, results-driven leaders to fuel that momentum. What You'll Do
Client Strategy & Retention - Own a portfolio of 6–10 key accounts, define and track quarterly OKRs, and lead QBRs that connect SEO performance directly to pipeline growth, revenue, and client satisfaction.
Technical & Content Leadership - Provide strategic oversight on site audits, migrations, redesigns, content gap analyses, and authority-building initiatives, ensuring all work aligns with long-term client goals and best-in-class SEO standards.
AI & SERP Innovation - Lead the exploration and deployment of cutting-edge SEO tactics, including AI Overviews, YouTube search, Reddit answer boxes, and other emerging opportunities to maximize organic visibility and competitive advantage.
Cross-Functional Enablement - Partner with Paid Media, CRO, and Creative teams to integrate SEO insights into broader marketing strategies and ensure cohesive, data-driven campaign execution.
Tool-Stack & Process Excellence - Oversee and optimize the use of SEO platforms such as Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Surfer, ClickFlow, and AI-powered tools introduced to improve efficiency, insights, and campaign performance.
Reporting & Analytics - Deliver actionable insights through weekly KPI reviews, monthly retention and CSAT dashboards, and executive-level reporting for leadership to inform strategic decisions.
People Management & Team Development - Lead and mentor a team of SEO professionals, fostering growth, collaboration, and performance excellence. Ensure clear role definition, effective delegation, and career development within the team.
Internal SEO Ownership - Oversee and continuously improve the company’s own SEO strategy and performance, ensuring our digital presence exemplifies the same standards and innovation we deliver to clients.
Vision & Evolution of SEO Strategy - Drive the evolution of our SEO methodologies and frameworks, guiding the team and clients through the rapidly changing landscape of search and AI-driven discovery.
Requirements
8+ years of agency or multi-brand SEO leadership, with direct oversight of client accounts and management of junior/mid-level SEO teams.
Proven track record in client retention and growth, maintaining ≤ 25% annual churn and driving ≥ 20% YoY qualified-lead or revenue growth across a portfolio of accounts.
Demonstrated success on non-Google surfaces (YouTube, Reddit, AI answer cards, and emerging SERPs).
Advanced technical and content expertise, including indexation, Core Web Vitals, structured data, log-file analysis, and content strategy at scale.
Tool mastery across Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Surfer, GA4, GSC, and other SEO/analytics platforms.
AI fluency, including prompt engineering and leveraging AI for research, content outlines, internal linking strategies, and QA processes.
Executive communication skills, able to distill complex SEO insights for C-level stakeholders while mentoring and developing a high-performing SEO team.
