Chief Operating Officer (COO) / General Manager - AI-Native Operator
Build the operating system for an AI-native services company
We are hiring a Chief Operating Officer / General Manager to improve execution, financial discipline, leadership accountability, and AI adoption across Single Grain. Include “Operating systems are cool” in the subject line. Otherwise, your application will be disqualified.
You will turn strategy into a clear operating cadence and make the business easier to run at scale. This role requires direct ownership of the P&L, service delivery, capacity, forecasting, talent systems, and cross-company change.
About Single Grain
Single Grain is a revenue marketing agency. We build pipeline-focused systems that compound, not campaigns that expire. We have helped more than 500 companies, from venture-backed startups to the Fortune 500, drive measurable growth.
We operate as an AI-native team. Every role uses AI to improve speed, quality, judgment, and leverage. The COO will make that operating model measurable, adopted, and durable.
Your mission
Install the operating system that produces predictable growth, healthy margins, reliable delivery, strong leaders, and measurable AI-enabled leverage.
Primary KPI: improve operating margin and forecast accuracy while maintaining client outcomes, retention, and organizational health.
What you will own
Own the company operating cadence, goals, scorecards, reviews, and accountability.
Lead planning, forecasting, budgeting, capacity, margin, and resource allocation.
Improve service delivery, client health, quality control, and cross-functional handoffs.
Build a strong leadership team with clear roles, standards, and decision rights.
Turn AI adoption into documented workflows, usage, quality, and economic impact.
Identify constraints, set priorities, and close execution gaps without creating needless process.
Partner with the CEO on strategy while owning day-to-day operating performance.
What success looks like
In 30 days, you have completed a fact-based operating diagnosis and aligned the leadership team on the highest-value constraints.
By 60 days, the company runs a clear weekly and monthly cadence with trusted financial, delivery, client, and people metrics.
By 90 days, leaders have clear accountability, the forecast is more reliable, and the first operating and AI-system changes show measurable results.
Evidence we need to see
Experience operating a digital agency, recurring-services company, or comparable people-intensive business at meaningful scale.
Direct P&L, margin, forecasting, capacity, and service-delivery ownership.
A system you installed that produced a quantified operating result.
A company-wide AI or process change with measured adoption and leverage.
Examples of raising leadership accountability while preserving speed and trust.
Ability to work from the Los Angeles office at least three days per week.
This role is not
A strategy-only or advisory seat.
A chief-of-staff role without P&L and operating authority.
A process role that adds meetings without improving decisions.
A role for unmeasured AI theater or disconnected automation pilots.
How the process works
Application and evidence review.
A focused operating and leadership screen.
The published COO operating challenge.
A live P&L, systems, and change-leadership review.
References and final decision.
Work model and compensation
This is a full-time hybrid role based in Los Angeles. You must work from the Los Angeles office at least three days per week. Compensation is $185,000–$225,000. Current benefits listed for the role will be preserved.
